Chapter 1 Questions

Answer one numbered question, and everyone also answer the star question in the same post!

Chapter 1:
1. What was unusual about Sunset Towers?  Why does it make a good setting?

2. Find the page that the word alcove .  What page?  What does that word mean?  Where would you find an alcove?

3. Why was the delivery boy described as "uncommon" looking?

4.  Where was Sydelle staring suspiciously?  How did Barney convince Sydelle to take the apartment?

5. Why was Barney described as a very good salesman?

6. Find the page with the word bookie.  What does this mean?  Where would you hear that word?

*. At the end of the chapter we were told one of the tennants were a mistake.  Which tennant do you think was a mistake and why?

  6. #4 Sydelle stared suspiciously at the window. Barney convinced Sydelle to buy it by saying that twenty people were begging for it and she had to take it or leave it.

  7. #5 I think Barney was described a very good salesman because he told them that they either take it or leave it and that he had lied about twenty people also looking at the apartment. He also only told the good qualities of the Sunset Towers.

  8. 6. The word "bookie" is on page five. Bookie is someone who makes illegal bets on many subjects. Such as; horse racing, sport teams, etc.

  9. #1. Something unusual about Sunset Towers is that even though the sun sets to the west, the building faces the east. It is a good setting because of the unique design of it's rooms, the windows are large and cover every side, and the entire buildin.g is reflective

  10. #2. alcove was on page 5 and it means a small room opening by a larger room but not separated by a wall or door.
