Chapter 14

1. What was Angela searching for under the hoods of the cars in the parking lot? Why did she think she should search there?
2. Why did the doorman refuse to accept a tip from the judge?
3. What does 'amends' mean? On which page does it appear? Who is trying to make amends? For what action?
4.Why were the tenants buying so many Westing Paper Products?
5. Who yells "Boom!" at unsuspecting people throughout the week? Why is he/she doing this?
6. Where is the quote "May God thy gold refine" from? Who figures this out?
7. What does 'deception' mean? On what page does it appear? What is the deception?

  6. #3 The word "amends" means reparation or compensation. The word is found on page 80, and when J. J. pocketed the bill and, to make amends for her thoughtless gesture, she asked the doorman about his family.

  8. #5. Otis Amber yelled "Boom!" at other people. He is doing this because somebody bombed the coffee shop.

    1. Once a the bomb hit the coffee shop, Otis yelled BOOM!. Then, the owner of the Chinese restaurant sent out a letter saying "due to the incident at the coffee shop, come to Shin Hoo's restaurant for a delicious meal!"

  9. #1 Angela is looking under the hoods of the cars because she was fallowing Sydelle's instuctions to search under every car hood in the parking lot because one of their clues was good gracious under every hood space

    1. Their clues were good, grace, from, hood, spacious and Sydelle thought that it meant good gracious from hood spacious so she told Angela to look under the hoods of all the cars in the parking for a weapon when the snow melted.
